Tools Hub

Not every wiki page is a story. These tools are the two questions people ask before they click Purchase: how hard is this, and will it run. Child pages:

  • Difficulty — two axes, five tiers, drop rates, construction costs, mood expectations, respawns.
  • System requirements — Windows, macOS, Steam Deck Playable caveats, storage, and Cloud.

Use them with the beginner guide rather than instead of it. A Devastation save on Intel HD 4000 is two problems stacked.

Why difficulty is a tool page

CanOpener split combat difficulty (monster HP/damage, respawns, environment modifiers) from management difficulty (material costs, research workload, treatment mood tables, dungeon-stay penalties) after supporter feedback. “Normal” used to feel like the intended hardcore curve; they shifted that intended curve toward Hard and left Normal as the teaching lane. If a guide says “on Normal,” it means both axes at Normal unless it says otherwise.

Why requirements are a tool page

The minimum spec is ancient on paper and still ships a UI full of tiny type. Steam Deck is Playable, not Verified. Mac is Intel or Apple Silicon from Big Sur up. You want those facts next to the Early Access price, not buried in a trailer description.

Other calculators we are not faking

We do not ship a live damage simulator or a save editor. Advanced save poking exists in community data wikis and can soft-lock a campaign — back up first. For party math, use stats and party comps. For depletion timers, use expeditions.

If you came here looking for Roblox-style code redeemers or script executors, you have the wrong Dungeon Settlers. Steam app 2798330 is a paid colony sim. Official links live on the links hub.

How to use the two tools together

Start a campaign only after you have picked both sliders and confirmed the box will run pause-heavy UI. A Deck player who wants Hard combat should still read Valve’s Playable notes: small fonts make skill names easy to mis-tap. A desktop player on 4 GB RAM should not also pick Devastation management, because the famine extends expeditions and keeps more entities simulating.

After the Red Monster Rat, revisit difficulty. Many players bump combat one step once Bone gear exists, and leave management where the kitchen already works. That is a healthier EA habit than restarting every time a guide’s Normal numbers disagree with your slider.

When a patch notes “balance,” check this hub first: combat tweaks belong on the combat guide and weapon list; management tweaks belong on mood and research rooms. The tools pages tell you which axis moved.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Combat or management — which should I lower first?

Lower management if mood and material costs feel cruel. Lower combat if elites melt your party. Details on difficulty.

Does Steam Deck run Dungeon Settlers?

Valve rated it Playable. Expect small text and mouse/keyboard icons. See system requirements.

Is there an in-wiki character builder?

Not a live calculator. Use stats and talents plus the race and weapon lists.
