Dungeon Settlers Roadmap and Locked Content
What CanOpener listed, what the data files hint, and what is still a blank map slot.
CanOpener keeps a public Notion Dungeon Settlers Roadmap and restates the same beats in Steam’s Early Access FAQ. This page is a player-facing digest, not a promise ledger. Dates slip; the Early Access notes explain the live build. For systems you can use today, stay in guides.
Early Access (now)
Shipped loop: settlement, recruiting, combat, research, crafting, two story regions, Abyss experiments, merchants, depletion, safe floors, recreation tables, Steam Cloud, Mac support. Brazilian Portuguese was added from a language survey for EA (this wiki still localizes en / fr / de / es only).
Studio goal during EA: more regions, monsters, weapons, skills, races, events, plus combat/management balance, UI, optimization, localization, and modding with Steam Workshop.
Full release target
Steam FAQ: leave Early Access when polish and content match the ambition. Notion-era notes pointed at full release around 2028 Q3 with:
- Regions 3–6 (Abandoned Mine, Forgotten Abyss, Dead Swamp, Tower of Apocalypse as map stubs today).
- Capture and domesticate animals (Gloth).
- Alcohol as a management toy.
- Broader trait, event, and room lists.
Treat 2028 as a heading, not a pre-order bonus. The two-year EA estimate from 2026 lands near that window if it holds.
Datamine vs trailer
The data wiki community has documented empty region slots, Dwarf / White Demon / Tal with recruit weight 0, Lycan groundwork, inert soul stones, and named relics (Baron Blood Tear, Red Dragon Breath) that imply later bosses. Fun to read. Useless as a build order. Do not skip beds because a White Demon might exist in 2028.
Elf-themed “homeland” environment text and an elf merchant have also been hinted. That would matter to the race tier list; it is not live.
How to follow without drowning
- Steam news hub for app 2798330.
- Discord announcement channel.
- Notion roadmap (linked from Steam).
- This page, updated when those three agree.
Wishlist count (300k) and gamescom booths are marketing history. They do not unlock Festering Burrow faster.
What we want from future patches (as players, not as the studio)
Reliable Greater mana stones so leveling past 5 is a system, not a wall. A clearer region-unlock UI so people stop thinking the Red Monster Rat is a broken key. More repair QoL. Those are feedback items for Discord, not features this wiki can ship.
Until Workshop exists, there are no official mods to recommend. Anyone selling “Dungeon Settlers scripts” is in the wrong genre — this is a Steam strategy game. Send them to the links hub and the real store page.
Reading empty map slots without spoiling yourself
Abandoned Mine, Forgotten Abyss, Dead Swamp, and Tower of Apocalypse are names on a board. Going there in the current expedition UI does nothing useful. Infinite Abyss is the only extra mode that resembles a climb, and even that is marked unfinished. If a YouTube thumbnail promises region 6, it is either datamine bait or a different game.
Animal taming (Gloth) and alcohol are full-release toys. They will rewrite mood and maybe races when they exist. Do not leave a farm empty today because a future cow might live there.
How we will update this page
When Steam news and the Notion board agree on a ship date, we add a dated bullet. When only a datamine agrees, we leave it in the “hint” paragraph. That is why Dwarves sit in a cage here instead of on the recruiting page. If CanOpener posts a new tree (spear, holy, taming-as-combat), weapons gets the playable write-up first; this roadmap only records the promise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many regions are playable now?
Two story regions end-to-end, plus Infinite Abyss as a separate, unfinished-feeling mode. Four more map slots are empty.
When do Dwarves arrive?
No date. They exist in data with recruit weight 0. Watch Steam news, not datamines.
Will the game go to Steam Workshop?
That is the stated full-release / late-EA plan. It is not in the launch-week build.
Is 2028 official?
It appeared on the Notion-era full-release heading. The legally binding text is Steam’s “about two years of Early Access.”
