Stats and Talents

Every settler has six major statsStrength, Constitution, Willpower, Intelligence, Agility, Perception — and a talent per stat. Talent is not a vibe. It is a per-level gain table. Combined with the offering you pick at prayer, it is the difference between a guard who scales into Festering Burrow and a mascot who peaks at Cloth armor. Read this with recruiting and leveling.

Talent tiers

TierGain per level (base)Average
Poor1–32.0
Moderate2–43.0
Outstanding2–53.5
Exceptional3–64.5
Genius3–75.0

The live roll sits inside that range, then the offering multiplies it: Least ×1.0, Ordinary ×1.2, Plentiful ×1.5. A Genius stat on Plentiful can jump about 10–11 points in one prayer. A Poor stat on Least barely twitches. Starting sheets usually sum to 2–5 talent tiers across all six stats, so a single Exceptional or Genius is a headline.

In-game blurbs match the table: Poor is “very limited,” Genius is “nearly limitless.” Unknown means you have not inspected. Inspect.

What each stat actually does

Major stats feed derived numbers with flat per-point contributions shown in the UI as “Per Stat +X.”

  • Strength — +1.0 Physical Attack Power and +4.0 Max Weight per point. Your pack mule and your melee core.
  • Constitution — max health and physical resists. Guards live here.
  • Willpower — max energy and status resists. Casters and anyone who should not Mental Break on a burn.
  • Intelligence — Magic Attack Power and magic resists. Fire/Water/Nature and research speed at camp.
  • Agility — movement speed, attack speed, dodge. Bows and people who must not stand in swipes.
  • Perception — crit and hit chance, plus a slice of physical attack.

Physical Attack Power is not Strength-only. A useful model is 13.5 + Strength ×1.0 + Agility ×0.5 + Perception ×0.5 + weapon value. Magic attack is Intelligence-led. That is why a “pure Strength” sheet still likes a little Perception, and why Water summons (scaled on magic attack) want Intelligence gear — see weapons.

An unused internal “×0.02 growth” model exists in data. The live game uses the flat per-point model. Ignore datamine myths that contradict the tooltip.

Offerings vs stones

Offerings also change mana-stone cost: Least 0.5×, Ordinary 1.0×, Plentiful 2.0× (see leveling). Before the level-5 wall, Ordinary is the default. After stones get scarce, Least on secondary stats and Ordinary/Plentiful only on Genius/Exceptional combat stats is the grown-up plan.

Research rooms multiply Intelligence work

A Research Lab’s room quality adds roughly +30% research capability in a poor room up to +150–210% in fantastic/luxurious rooms. Intelligence talent plus Elf racial plus a real lab is how you stop staring at a 40-hour project. Lizardmen take a research penalty; do not park them here because they were idle. Settlement layout matters as much as the stat.

Inscription of Perfection

This Legendary inscription bumps every talent up one tier, capped at Genius. It is one of the few ways to fix a mediocre sheet. If a candidate already has it, the surcharge is often a steal (inscriptions).

Reading a sheet in ten seconds

  1. Any Genius/Exceptional? In which stats?
  2. Do those stats match a weapon tree and race?
  3. Is Constitution non-Poor if they will stand in front?
  4. Is Intelligence non-Poor if they will sit in a lab?
  5. If all Moderate, they are a hauler. Hire them for camp, not for the Red Monster Rat.

Talents are the scouting report. Everything else on the character — portraits, funny backgrounds, trailer quotes about curious Lizardmen — is flavor until this row is good.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does Strength alone decide melee damage?

No. Agility and Perception each add 0.5 physical attack per point on top of Strength’s 1.0, plus the weapon’s flat value.

Is Plentiful always better?

Only if you can afford 2× stones. After level 5, stones are the bottleneck. Spend Plentiful on Genius stats, not on Poor ones.

Why inspect if I can see stats already?

Visible numbers are the current sheet. Talents are the growth curve. Inspection reveals that curve.

Can Poor become Genius later?

Not by leveling. Inscription of Perfection can raise every talent one tier, still capped at Genius.
